Refugees Welcome Haringey has been campaigning for Haringey council to resettle at least four Syrian refugee families in the borough by Christmas 2016.
After a 14 month campaign, 1340 pledges of support, a petition signed by over 2700 people, and a letter of commitment from 20 different community organisations across the borough, it was announced that Haringey Council will be resettling ten Syrian refugee families via the Vulnerable Person Resettlement scheme!
This could not have happened without your support – thanks to everyone who has signed and shared the petition, emailed their local councillor, and tweeted their support for the campaign!
However, so far no timescale has been announced for when the refugee families will arrive, so it’s crucial that we keep up the pressure and continue our campaign.
Make sure your voice continues to be heard loud and clear:
Residents of Haringey please contact your local councillors today to thank them for their role in moving this forward – and to ask them exactly when the refugee families will start to arrive in Haringey.
There’s still time for 4 families to arrive before Christmas!
You can find contact details for your ward councillors here.
If you are a landlord who is interested in renting your property to refugees coming through the scheme, or if you speak Arabic, have a TESOL qualification, or other skills and want to help, please get in touch by emailing us firstname.lastname@example.org
We’re winning – so we must continue to hold Haringey Council to account!
Thank you so much for supporting our campaign!
